Census 2000 Activities

• LUCA 98
• Reviewed all city-style addresses in MAF
• Submitted over 11,000 missing addresses
• Over 93 of those addresses were accepted
• LUCA 99
• Reviewed all blocks with non-city-style addresses
• Submitted over 40 blocks with discrepancy plus
  individual addresses all addresses were accepted
• New Construction
• New addresses were submitted a few month prior to
  April 2000, all 2,500 addresses were accepted

• Boundary Annexation Survey (BAS) Digital
  Submittal Option
• Have been submitting township and municipality
  shape files since 2002
• While boundaries for the most part are adjusted
  to the county layers, some areas are still
  showing large offsets

• Road Centerline Update
• Sent the road centerline layer in 2002 the base
  (as of /- Year 2000) is adjusted very well
• Roads in some municipalities are updated up to
  2004 but show large offsets (similar to1990s
  TIGER)

• No Direct Activities or Communications with the
  Bureau since Census 2000 regarding MAF

How Should We Prepare For Census 2010? (1)

• After we make corrections to the shape files and
  submit them to the Bureau, will we find them in
  accurate condition next time around? Is it
  possible that the good data gets replaced by
  another entitys paper or digital submittal which
  may or may not be accurate?
• Who coordinates an effort to consolidate data
  source providers to assure data integrity?
  (Designate one data provider per entity)

How Should We Prepare For Census 2010? (2)

• Will there be a LUCA program prior to Census
  2010?
• When will LUCA programs start?
• How can we best prepare for LUCA?

How Should We Prepare For Census 2010? (3)

• Will the Bureau conduct any training and/or
  informational sessions regarding all 2010 plans
  that requires locals assistance?
• Will we be able to use the information in
  Bureaus MAF to update our home grown MAF (will
  there be a change made to Title 13)?
