1
Can the Asia Pacific Grid contribute to Science
and Technology in Asia Pacific Region?"
  • SC Global Panel
  • Tuesday, 1730-1900 CST
  • MC Satoshi Matsuoka, Tokyo Institute of
    Technology

APAN TransPAC, Fall 2001
3
Asia-Pacific Grid (APGrid)
  • Initially proposed by Satoshi Sekiguchi, AIST,
    Japan and other folks
  • Loosely Collaborating Asia-Pacific National Grid
    Efforts on APAN/TransPAC
  • Just had kickoff meeting in Tokyo, Oct. 22-24
  • Progress initially slow, but with some recent
funding boosts in various countries, we should
have some semi-permanent public resources as well
    as establish interoperability practices

4
APGrid Objectives
  1. Build an Asia-Pacific Grid testbed on APAN
  2. Interface to global Grid efforts such as GGF
  3. Share resources, knowledge, technologies--- a
    forum for collaborative Grid work
  4. Standardize on Grid interoperability issues
  5. Work with Asia-Pacific application communities
    and provide assistance
  6. Promote ApGrid-originated results, help initiate
    new domestic Grid projects.
