Source
  • The source of the river is the start of a
river. It starts as a simple spring. Then forms a
stream then gradually grows into a river. The
rain makes the stream grow quicker into a river.
    (The rain).

Meander
  • A meander is where a river is curved and flows
around a sharp bend in its flow path. An oxbow
lake is formed when erosion chops away at the
meander (Erosion is when the river grinds away
some of the land around it witch is why oxbow
lakes appear). There is a simple way to remember
meander, me and her. I hope this little lesson
hasnt drove you round the bend.

Tributaries
  • Tributaries are little brooks joining the
massive river. They are smaller because their
sources are nearer than the larger river .When
they join the larger river the bigger river
grows. Sometimes the smaller river has an
extremely fast current below the surface.

Confluence
  • A confluence is when 2 large rivers connect.
Sometimes a confluence smashes together and
makes water goes off the river and give people a
    free bath.

Erosion
  • Erosion is where the water rubs at the side and
makes the side go flat also sometimes adds it to
the load of the river. It adds to the load and
makes it go to the bottom which is called silt
.It takes mud away from the sides and drops it
off and that is called deposition.

Mouth
  • The mouth is where the river ,which is in the
slowest part of its journey, meets the ocean and
it passes through the river delta. But there
isnt always a delta. Fish also come down the
river and enter the sea and sometimes get stuck
    in the seaweed.

9
Valley
  • A valley is where the river erodes through a
mountain . A valley is formed when the river
erodes between two hills . Sometimes water flows
down the hills and enters the river. Also
waterfalls are created at the end of the valley
    sometimes.
