1. Intake process Current Status
  • Call was launched in 2008
  • Pre-selection 15 January 2009
  • Ex-ante evaluation of the pre-selected
    institutions (Programming Mission)
    February-March 2008
  • Selection by Steering Committee of VLIR- UOS (11
    April 2008) of 2 partners that are invited to
    commence the identification and formulation
    phase

FORMAL STATUS TO DATE
  • Contracting since 1 October 2008 up until 31
    March 2010 is for a Pre Partner Programme Stage
    during which a consensuated partner programme
    proposal is prepared, according to a number of
    steps in the IUC Cycle gt
  • Approval of partner programme depends on
    successful formulation process

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND
  • that at this stage there are indicative programme
    and project proposals (Identification Stage
    Partner Programme Proosal) with corresponding
    support needs - there is room for change and
    adaptation of the design!
  • that at this stage there are no Flemish teams,
    henceforth all is open but please be careful
    with pre-mature commitments!
  • accept and build upon a win-win concept!
  • to be receptive but dare to be critical and
    assist in shaping ideas jointly
  • the fact that there is a programme behind the
    project

2. Objectives of the IUC Matchmaking week

OBJECTIVES
  • The visiting delegations (and concerned Flemish
    academics) have an understanding of the process
    related to partner programme design and the
    landscape of higher education in Flanders
  • The visiting delegations are able to assess the
    available interest and expertise among the
    Flemish academic community in view of their
    needs, and are able to appraise the feasibility
    of the proposed partner programme and its
    constituent projects
  • The interested Flemish academics have a basic
    understanding of the context and the (academic)
    needs and capacities expected by the partner
    university
  • Both coordinators and the local teams are in a
    position to formulate recommendations regarding
    Flemish project leadership
  • The two participating partner institutions have
    established initial contact based on which later
    South-South linkages could be built.
  • First contacts and linkages with a number of
    other development actors are achieved gt Monday
    evening welcome dinner will amongst other serve
    this purpose
