    by the Fire Services Department (FSD)
  • Fire Safety Requirements
  • For centres not exceeding 3-storey in height, FSD
    may consider to waive some of the requirements
    for centres

  • A manual fire alarm system
  • An emergency lighting system
  • Exit signs
  • Portable fire extinguishers, preferably ones
    using dry powder and fire blankets

  • A hose real system with a 2m2 water tank for
    remote centre

    CoP
  • when emergency vehicular access and/or water
    water supply for fire-fighting are not available,
    enhanced fire safety requirements may be
    prescribed by DFS

  • All fire service, fixed electrical and gas
    installations should be maintained in efficient
    working order and regularly inspected by
    registered contractors

  • A copy of the certificate of compliance/completion
    should be forwarded to the DFS as proof of
    compliance with the provisions stipulated in
    related Ordinances

Gas installation
  • All gas installation or alteration work must be
    undertaken by a Registered Gas Contractor in
    accordance with the Gas Safety Ordinance (Cap.51)

  • If a piped gas supply is available, towngas or
    liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) should be used to
    supply all gas equipment

  • Only when a piped-gas supply is not available
    should consideration be given to using individual
    LPG cylinders stored in a purposely designed
    chamber

  • Gas appliances installed should be those models
    equipped with flame failure device
  • Gas water heaters should be of the room-sealed
    balanced flue type

  • All gas equipment should be inspected/maintained
    annually by a Registered Gas Contractor

  • No cooking in naked flame is permitted in the
    centre premises other than in kitchen
  • Be aware of the users instructions provided by
    the manufacturers when using gas appliances

  • Liaise with the Registered Gas Contractor for
    regular check of the gas appliances and safety
    advice on gas-related matters

  • Maintain close supervision by the specified
    operator or any designed person
  • Establish means of communication with FSD
  • Conduct Annual Fire drills and draw up evacuation
    plan

    fire danger and have knowledge to handle fire
    accident.
  • Late patrol to ensure that the environment is safe
