TRANSITIONS
  • When people go through a big change in their
lives this situation is described as transition
    in the modern scientific literature.
  • This term means transformation, a big change in
life, to live across borders and was mentioned
first in the late 1990ies within studies done by
    the Anglo-American scientific community,
especially in the field of social sciences.

5
  • National educational systems could build up
invisible barriers for persons as members of a
special part of the society which can also be
    described as transitions.

6
We can find so-called transitions in everybodys
school career
  • a change from kindergarten to school, from one
type of school to another one, from one national
educational system to another one, from one class
to another (if changing flat, town, country, ...
    ect).

7
  • In private life a transition could also be
caused by migration, by the need of change of
language and/or culture, by the change of job, by
marriage, by a new baby born into the family, by
a newcomer to a family etc.

8
  • To come over those artificial, often politically
    caused transitions/barriers/challenges/changes in
everybodys life there is a need of certain
awareness about it, esp. within the group of
    professional educators or social workers.
