• The next two slides display the differences
  between the historical mean annual temp and
  precip and the future temp and precip for the
  years 2070-2099, as given for each of 3 scenarios
  for each of 3 GCMs. These 9 GCM/scenario
  combinations are from the 4th IPCC.
• GCMs
• CSIRO-MK3.0 from Australia (0.8 deg lat x 1.9 deg
  long, 31 vertical layers, model dates from 2001)
• Hadley CM3 from the UK (1.25 deg x 1.25 deg, 20
  vertical layers, model dates from 1997)
• MIROC 3.2 medium resolution from Japan (0.5-1.4
  deg lat, 1.4 deg long, 43 vertical layers, model
  dates from 2004)
• Scenarios
• A1B - very rapid economic growth, global
  population peaks in mid-century, rapid
  introduction of new and more efficient
  technologies, energy use is "balanced" between
  fossil fuel and non-fossil resources - medium GHG
  emissions
• A2 - "very heterogeneous world", high population
  growth, slow economic development, slow
  technological change - high GHG emissions
• B1 - "convergent world", same population growth
  as A1B, more rapid changes in economic structures
  toward a service and information economy - low
  GHG emissions.
