ARC APD/APDI Information Session

• Speakers
• Professor Barry BrooksSir Hubert Wilkins Chair
  of Climate Change and ARC College of Experts
  Member will speak on what constitutes a strong
  APD/APDI proposal and processes for assessment.
• Dr Pamela Lyon (School of Humanities and Social
  Sciences) and Dr Russell Brinkworth (School of
  Molecular and Biomedical Sciences) Successful APD
  and APDI applicants, will share their experiences
  in submitting successful proposals.
• Mr Jim Deed from the Research Branch will provide
  advice on the application process

• Whats an APD or APDI?
• Early Career Fellowships Funded by the ARC
• Fellowships can only be won as part of a DP or LP
  grant
• Essentially equivalent to a Level A academic
  salary
• You can get the grant up without having the
  Fellowship awarded
• But, you cant get the Fellowship without the
  Grant being awarded

• Discovery Projects
• Australian Postdoctoral Fellowships for
  early-career researchers (awarded PhD within the
  3 years immediately preceding the closing date
  for applications).
• Linkage Projects
• Australian Postdoctoral Fellowships (Industry)
  for researchers with fewer than three years'
  postdoctoral experience at the closing date for
  applications.
• An alternative in both schemes is to apply for a
  Research Associate salary, but must be for a
  grant under someone elses name

• Discovery Projects
• Australian Research Fellowships (ARF) and Queen
  Elizabeth II (QEII) Fellowships for postdoctoral
  researchers of exceptional promise to undertake
  research of national and international
  significance.
• Australian Professorial Fellowships (APF) are
  available for outstanding researchers with proven
  international reputations to undertake research
  that is of major importance in its field and of
  significant benefit to Australia.
• Linkage Projects
• Linkage Industry Fellowships (LIF) for exchange
  of personnel between Universities and Industry.
