  • Came up on Friday evening with bags full of
things to do to organise my life. Write letters,
make lists, collect thoughts. But then I realised
I was just bringing Londons baggage with me
the need to be busy, to fill gaps. The time I
spent in the lodge I read my book. I watched the
hypnotic dance of the flames in the fire that I
built and that was pretty much it. I feel
completely satisfied and fresh and calm. So I
will take Lincolnshire home with me.

  • it is now time for the rural economy to
sustain small enterprises on a non-industrial
platform. I wanted to include water conservation
and recycling of kitchen and toilet waste to show
potential guests how we live in a virtuous
natural system that is not so difficult to keep
in balance. We want people to discover their own
truths about their place in the environment and
how it sustains them. Meanwhile we look after the
    woods, meadows, ponds and gardens.
