Course Description
  • ITSK 1701 - Database Applications (1-2-1)An
    intermediate level skills course in Microsoft
    Access. Topics include reports, forms, OLE
    fields, sub forms, macros, VBA and the
    switchboard manager. An introduction to
    relational database theory and database design is
    included.In addition to class meetings, e-mail
    and the web will be primary modes of
    communicating course materials, special notices
    and for distributing and collecting assignments.

  • 1. Be able to describe the advantages and
    disadvantages of Database Systems2. Describe the
    major components of a Database Management
    System3. Develop Tables, Queries, Forms,
    Reports, Switchboards4. Describe the major
    components of a Relational Database5. Understand
    the purpose and benefits of the Relational
    Model6. Understand how to use Structured Query
    Language7. Understand the basics of Macros and
    VBA8. Develop a fully functional Access Database

Course Requirements
  • This course is designed around lectures and
    problem solving questions. Much of the material
    covered is not always in the textbook. I
    recommend you attend class. QuizzesWith the
    exception of the first quiz they will be
    unannounced.
  • There are NO makeups for quizzes.
  • Exam PolicyYou get to drop a quiz.
