PRV95 Pressure Relief Valve for Aerospace
TestingMarotta Scientific Controls, Inc.,
Huntsville, AL
  • Pressure Relief Valve
  • The PRV95 Pressure Relief Valve offers high
performance with no impact with an ultrasoft
    opening and closing design.
  • Accomplishments
  • PRV95 is still in the prototype stage.
  • This non-impact, no-oscillation relief valve
solves current fluid system pressure problems
    associated with conventional pop-type relief
    valves.
  • The PRV95 establishes Marotta in the pressure
    relief valve market.
  • Marotta has invested 250,000 into the continued
    development of the PRV95.
  • Commercialization
  • Marotta ownes U.S. Patent No. 5,078,177 on the
    PRV95 Pressure Relief Valve.
  • The primary target market for the valve is the
aerospace industry, applicable to both ground
    support and flight applications.
  • Marotta plans to take the concept and develop it
for use with other line media, such as cryogenic
service, liquids (water, diesel fuel, etc.) and
    natural gas.
  • The unique competitive advantage of the PRV95 is
    its no-impact design.
  • The valve utilizes a concept known as upstream
control for valve positioning, making the valve
    more stable and exhibiting excellent
    repeatability and minimal hysteresis.
  • The PRV95 is especially desirable when used in
oxygen-rich environments where the possibility of
an explosion or fire is very high with
    conventional pop-type relief valves.
  • Government/Science Applications
  • Applications within the aerospace industry
include, but are not limited to, launch
facilities, launch vehicles and test facilities.
  • Modified versions of the PRV95 will also be
applicable for United States Navy and United
    States Army applications.
