Relatively new concept in academic disciplines
and in nursing
  • Between 1990 and 2003, a total of 1,114 articles
    were
  • published to deal with cultural competence in
    nursing care, with 127 of them focused on the
    development and application of cultural
    competence models in nursing .
  • Major authors contributing to the advancement of
    the knowledge include Leininger Campinha-Bacote
    Giger and Davidhizar Orque, Purnell, and
    Paulanka Spector and Andrews and Boyle among
    others.
