  • Location Two part muscle, one stating at lower
    other from inner surface of iliacus, both
    connecting to inner medial portion or upper femur
  • Actions Flexion of the hip external rotation
    of the femur
  • Weightroom multi-hip machine, hanging pikes
  • Every day Turning around, Line dancing

Sartorius
  • Location Starts at the point on the front of
    your hip and runs across the top of your thigh,
    around the inside of your knee, and attaches
    under the notch on the inside of your knee
  • Actions Flexion of the hip, flexion of the knee,
    external rotation of the thigh when flexing the
    hip or knee
  • Weightroom Leg curls, theraband exercises

  • Location Starts right below the point of your
    hip and runs along the top of your thigh across
    your knee to the upper part of your calf

  • Location Starts at the point of your hip (Iliac
    Crest) and runs along outside of leg for about ΒΌ
    of the length of your thigh

    tendency to rotate hip inward while flexing it

    resistance, Lever Seated Hip Abduction

Gluteus Maximus
  • Location This muscle starts basically in the
    middle of your hips and runs out to the upper
    fourth of the back of your femur (this is the
    muscle in your butt)
  • Actions Hip Extension, External rotation of the
    hip, lower fibers assist in adduction

    sled

  • Location Starts on the outside of your hip, just
    below the tip, and runs to the top of your femur
  • Actions Hip Abduction, External rotation during
    hip abduction (posterior fibers), Internal
    rotation (anterior fibers)
