HUS is a unique condition that leads to kidney
failure in minors. Kidney failure is a result
where small, functional vessels are present
inside the kidney. HUS is a severe illness that
is potentially fatal. In this condition, usually
damaged red blood cells block the kidney
filtration system, promoting kidney failure in
children. This particular syndrome damages the
small structures and vessels inside the kidneys.
HUS stops the red blood cells, which obstruct
tiny blood vessels in the kidney. It causes
damage to kidney vessels.

occurs in the month of summer or carries a

daycare centres and water parks as a result of
uncooked hamburger meat, HUS followed by
infection with E.coli bacterium HUS can develop
as a result of certain drugs or may be a
consequence of the presence of cancer in the
body, as these reasons are primarily uncommon,
Some rare case of HUS are closely related, which
suggest a genetic susceptibility.

Healthcare providers at Dr L.H. Hiranandani
Hospital Kidney department, would ask about
healthcare history or the symptoms appearing so
far. After which, your child has to pass these
tests Blood Screening This helps to check the
blood count, electrolytes and kidney
function. Urine Examination This test contains
the overall presence of protein and blood in
urine Stool Test These check blood and examine
the presence of bacteria, including
E.coli Kidney Postmortem A small amount of the
kidney is removed and examined under a
microscope.

According to Dr. Sujit Chatterjee, CEO of
Hiranandani Hospital, your child may require
close monitoring in the Intensive Care Unit
(ICU). Treatments in the ICU would include, IV
fluids and Electrolytes It treats electrolyte
imbalance and avoids dehydration. Blood
Transfusion To treat the most emergent case of
lower blood cells, your child may require this
treatment. Nutrition Rehabilitants may need
nutritional suggestions in case of digestive
problems. Dialysis When kidneys stop
functioning, dialysis is needed to eliminate
unnecessary waste and fluid from the constant
bloodstream. Medicine To treat high blood
pressure, patients may require medicines In most
cases, children recover from damage without any
long-term damage to health in very few
instances, kidneys get damaged and dont
function properly.
