Project
Free Zones, sometimes referred to as free trade
zones, play a pivotal role in accelerating the

roadworks development project around Hamriyah
Free Zone.
Project Scope
The Hamriyah Free Zone roadworks project, valued
at AED 94mln, was commissioned by the Hamriyah
Free Zone Authority, and it aimed to improve
transportation infrastructure between Sharjah and
Ras Al Khaimah. The project encompassed the
construction of roads, roundabouts, service
roads, and secondary streets. Sharjah General
Contracting Co., the appointed contractor, hired
Al Marwan as the equipment supplier to facilitate
the smooth execution of the project.

Efficient Collaboration and Equipment Selection
In collaboration with the engineering consultant,
Jacobs Halcrow, Al Marwan provided a wide array
of heavy equipment to support the roadworks. The
project demanded a range of specialized
machinery, including Volvo and Hamm road rollers
(tandem single-drum), pneumatic tire rollers
(PTRs), Komatsu and CAT motor graders, Volvo
articulated haulers, Volvo and Dynapac asphalt
pavers, as well as Kato and Tadano mobile cranes.
This diverse equipment selection ensured optimal
performance and efficiency during construction.

To meet the project completion deadline, work on
the Hamriyah Free Zone roadworks development
project proceeded around the clock, with teams
working diligently in double-shifts. This
commitment to continuous work allowed for the
