    worldwide. In particular, the North America fuel
    cell market is set to grow at a rapid pace over
    the years, as a result of the escalating
    investment in renewable energy.
  • For instance, in July 2021, the U.S. Senate
    passed a 550 billion clean energy investment
    bill to dramatically improve the clean energy
    landscape in the country, with 73 billion
    allocated for clean energy generation. This
    factor could encourage consumers to rely on fuel
    cells to generate clean electricity and
    consequently bolster the North America fuel cell
    market expansion in years to come.
  • Considering their myriad usage benefits, fuel
    cells are gaining remarkable traction across
    multiple sectors, including industrial,
    residential, commercial, and energy storage for
    grids

  • Apart from the energy sector, GHG emission
    regulations have also been introduced in the
    automobile industry in recent years. In December
    2021, the Environment Protection Agency finalized
    federal GHG emissions standards for passenger
    vehicles as well as light trucks for 2023 through
    2026.
  • These final standards leverage the advancements
    in clean car tech to unlock over 190 billion in
    net benefits to Americans, such as climate
    pollution reduction. Factors such as these could
    influence consumers to shift their focus to
    low-emission vehicles like fuel cell electric
    vehicles in the region.
  • Power shutoff events pose a major hindrance to
    the maintenance of vehicular traffic in the U.S.
    states like California. To address challenges
    such as these, the city of Santa Clarita, for
    example, took a significant step forward in
    ensuring public safety during power outages. This
    involved the installation of a hydrogen fuel
    cell-based backup power system across the
    intersection of Whites Canyon Road and Soledad
    Canyon Road in Canyon Country.
  • This system was installed to keep traffic signals
    in normal operation for above 50 hours following
    electricity disruption, longer than the 8 hours
    afforded by traditional battery-powered backup
    systems.
