  • New to CLAT exam? Heres what you need to know
  • Common Law Admission Test or CLAT is a
    centralized national-level entrance test for
national law schools in India. It is an
aptitude-based exam that is divided into five
    sections, namely- English, Legal Reasoning,
Logical Reasoning, GK and Maths. It is of 150
marks each question carries 1 mark and each
incorrect answer would lead to a negative marking
of 0.25. It is one of the most highly competitive
entrance exams as it offers very limited seats
to study at the most celebrated law institutes of
India. CLAT is the gateway to studying at one of
the top government law colleges in India. To
crack CLAT, a lot of devotion and determination
are needed. If you are preparing or willing to
appear for CLAT, here are a few points which you
    must know-
  • CLAT is not a difficult exam if you work smart-
The syllabus of CLAT can be vast but it is
extremely doable. It is imperative to first
understand the exam pattern and the kind of
questions asked. This will give you an idea about
the topics that you have to pay special
attention to help you streamline your
    preparation.
  • Practice counts for a lot- Having understood all
the topics is not enough if you want to perform
well in the exam. You must try to practice
questions related to specific topics. This will
not only help you gain better clarity but also
    build your confidence.
  • Its a race against time- The main challenge that
the exam poses is, time management. After the
pattern change, the exam has become very reading
intensive and lengthy. You have to attempt 150
questions in under 2 hours. To be able to finish
the exam on time, building upon your reading
speed is necessary. You can also refer to a few
    reading techniques to save time.
  • Give a lot of mocks- Mocks help you give a fair
idea about your performance in the final exam.
  • By giving mocks, you are also familiarizing
yourself with the actual exam pattern which will
help you in understanding your weak and strong
points. More important than giving mocks is to
analyze them. Try to go through your mistakes and
re-attempt them in order to keep yourself from
    repeating them again.
  • Have a positive mindset- For such competitive
exams, your outlook matters a lot. You need to
have faith in yourself and in your preparation.
Additionally, dont let your confidence level go
down as that can severely impact your score in
the final exam. Maintain consistency and stay
calm. Over-stressing can disturb your peace of
mind which can further disrupt your routine. Stay
optimistic about the result and keep improving
    yourself.
