Title: Global Warming: Why are We Not Taking it Seriously?

1
Global Warming Why are We Not Taking it
Seriously?
  • Certain human activities have been causing
environmental changes over the past few decades
and these are not good. The pertinent question
has always been why are people not doing enough
to reduce the impact on the environment? The UN
report on the environment says by 2030 global
temperatures would have risen 2.7 degrees
Fahrenheit (1.5 degrees centigrade) about the
average of the pre-industrial era temperatures.

Global Warming Why are We Not Taking it
Seriously?
  • Several volumes of research have been published
over the past decades that was trying to explain
how and why we could always miscalculate the risk
to the environment. But many seem to ignore the
problem and are not too worried about the distant
    future.

Global Warming Why are We Not Taking it
Seriously?
  • People still believe that a small change in
temperature would not create drastic effects.
Many think using air conditioners, coolers and
air purifiers can keep them comfortable. But the
truth is that it would have grave consequences
and the impact is already becoming quite apparent
for the entire ecosystem and human civilization.

What are the Major Causes of Global Warming?
  • Human influences have been the number one cause
of global warming. One of the major reasons is
carbon pollution which is caused by the burning
of fossil fuels and the pollution created by
    destroying forests.

What are the Major Causes of Global Warming?
  • Different gasses like carbon dioxide, methane,
soot, and other pollutants are released into the
atmosphere and act as a blanket that traps the
heat of the sun and is causing the planet to warm
    up.

What are the Major Causes of Global Warming?
  • Scientific studies have shown that every decade
since 1960, has been hotter than the previous
one. This continuous rise in temperatures has
been altering the earth's climate system, which
also includes the atmosphere, oceans, land, and
polar ice, in multiple ways. Even simple room
thermometers can show the right temperatures and
over the years, you will realize how every place
    is getting warmer each year.

Some Major Effects of Global Warming
  • The effects of global warming are already being
felt around the globe over the past few years.
Some of the effects are mentioned below in
    detail
  • Worsening Weather Conditions
  • Extinction of Wildlife
  • Increasing Death Rates

Effects of Global Warming Worsening Weather
Conditions
  • The high temperatures are amplifying the
different types of disasters that include heat
waves, storms, floods, and droughts. The warmer
weather conditions collect more water vapor,
retain it, and unleash more water hence,
changing weather patterns make the wet areas
become wetter while the dry areas become drier.
There are extreme conditions of flash flooding
that are happening at alarming rates across the
    globe.

Effects of Global Warming Worsening Weather
Conditions
  • There are also several cases of landslides,
wildfires, dust storms, extreme heat events, and
drought-like conditions that the world is
currently experiencing. In some places, heavy
rains are causing overflowing of the rivers and
lakes which is damaging life and property causing
serious diseases and also leading to crop
failure. This also contaminates the clean
    drinking water sources.

Effects of Global Warming Extinction of Wildlife
  • As the environment undergoes rapid changes the
animals also which inhabit the same earth are
facing serious problems. Some species are doomed
to disappear and go extinct since they are unable
to adapt quickly and survive these drastic
    changes.

11
Effects of Global Warming Extinction of Wildlife
  • Lack of food and vegetation due to forest fires
are affecting the poor and helpless animals and
they have nowhere to go. This has increased the
dwindling of the animals and they adopt mass
migration in search of food. That also creates
other issues and leads to mass extinctions.

Effects of Global Warming Increasing Death Rates
  • Several eminent scientists have claimed that
global warming is one of the biggest health
threats of the 21st century. It can impact people
around the world and especially affect children,
    elderly and low-income communities, and
minorities in several direct and indirect ways.
As the temperature increases the incidence of new
diseases like Covid19 and deaths have risen.

Effects of Global Warming Increasing Death Rates
  • The number of heat-related deaths is also
increasing rapidly due to sudden spikes in
temperature even in places where people are not
    used to it earlier.

Effects of Global Warming Increasing Death Rates
  • Health issues like heat exhaustion, heat stroke,
and cardiovascular and kidney diseases are
killing more people than before, in several
countries around the world. Worsening air
pollution has increased pulmonary diseases in
many people leading to an increase in deaths.
