Modular Power Supply

Description:

Modular power supplies consist of some individual modules. Each module creates different output voltage so when combining several modules on the modular power supply, we get power supply of several outputs. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Title: Modular Power Supply

1
Modular Power Supply
2
  • Modular power supply is a method for connecting
power to a load that uses standardized
connectors. This contrasts with hard-wired power
(connections are made with conductors that cannot
be disconnected without cutting the conductor or
connector). There are several advantages to
modular power supplies no need to cut or strip
wires, less chance of short circuits, and a
    reduced risk of electrical shock.

3
  • Modular electronic equipment can be defined as
pieces of electronic equipment that are built
from individual components that can be easily
separated from the rest of the piece of
equipment. The definition of modular electronic
    equipment can include the following
  • Know More-Modular Power Supply

4
  • By having a modular power supply, it is possible
to reduce the amount of space that is needed by a
power supply and also reduce the cost of the
power supply because there will be no need to
have a large and expensive transformer installed
in order to provide power to the rest of the
    circuit.

5
  • This can allow for more compact designs while
still allowing for enough current to be provided.
Having a modular design allows for more efficient
packaging because there are less parts and
accessories that are needed when compared to a
    fixed or hard wired design.

6
  • Being able to switch between two different
voltages on one power supply also reduces the
amount of space taken up by the power supply when
compared to using multiple different types of
power supplies that are designed for different
    voltages.

7
  • The modular power supply, or power supply for
short, is the heart of any computer. It is a
small box that converts the A/C (Alternating
Current) from your wall outlet to the D/C (Direct
Current) your computer needs in order to
function. The modular power supply houses many
different components inside of it including the
power inductor, voltage regulator, and heatsink.

8
  • A modular power supply allows you to remove and
replace each component individually. This can be
very useful depending on the situation. For
example, if you have a dead CPU you will still be
able to use your case fans, RAM, hard drives etc.

9
  • All you need to do is get a replacement CPU and
plug it in place of your old one. Without a
modular power supply this process would be much
more difficult as you would need to replace your
entire power supply with one that contains a
    compatible CPU.

10
  • A modular power supply also makes it much easier
to clean out dust bunnies. If you have ever
cleaned out dust bunnies from inside a computer
case you know how painful it can be. In order for
it to be done properly you have to take out every
single component from the computer case including
the motherboard and graphics card. You then need
    to make sure everything is
