to PMI, this implies that you can manage complex
programs and projects with little supervision.
The programs and projects should be sufficiently

functions, you must have handled various aspects
of the project, like risk, cost, schedule and
dependencies, and so on. Additionally, you must
prove that you are proficient in managing
resources. In addition, PMI expects that as a
program director, you have a deep understanding
    of diverse disciplines like communication,
finance influence, people management as well as
conflict resolution, among other areas. So,
you'll need to choose and highlight the
experiences that demonstrate your ability to pass
    the test.
  • Another reason to properly delineate the
experience you have is that your "experience
summaries," which you will be required to provide
as part of the application, must include the
specific experiences. Therefore, you must be able
to dive more deeply into your knowledge and apply
it to the different domains of management for
programs. Inability to recognize and choose the
    appropriate experience can affect your
documenting of your "experience summary' section
    in your PgMP Certification Application.
  • The third reason to ensure that you have the
correct knowledge for your application is that it
will aid you to prepare for the multiple-choice
examination. To grasp the different concepts,
you'll have to link them to real-world
experiences. Choosing the best experience will
    help greatly in your learning.

6
working on your 'Experience Summaries'
  • As part of your application, you have to provide
five 'experience briefs' in which you must
demonstrate your management skills about the
programs you've managed. Therefore, you will need
to list the programs you've been able to manage
and connect your experiences to the various
principles of management. Keep in mind, as they
stated earlier that the PMI organization isn't
looking to award the PgMP certification based on
any theory-based knowledge. Instead, they need to
be sure that you have had prior experience in
managing programs and employed good management
techniques for your program. In this regard they
generally suggest that candidates read the
Standard of Program Management Guide before
    filling out the application.
