ABSCESS
  • The following clinical manifestations result
    from the pathophysiologic mechanisms caused (or
    activated) by Alveolar Consolidation, and when
    the abscess is draining, by Excessive Bronchial
    Secretionsthe major anatomic alterations of the
    lungs associated with chronic bronchitis

Commonly affected lung segments
  1. Right upper lobe posterior segment
  2. Left upper lobe
  3. Right and left lower lobe superior segment

Symptoms
  • Cough
  • Copious foul smelling expectoration
  • Hemoptysis
  • Fever
  • Chest pain
  • Dyspnoea

Clinical Data Obtained at the Patients Bedside
  • Vital signs
  • Increased respiratory rate
  • Increased heart rate, cardiac output, blood
    pressure
  • Febrile
