Title: Tips to Alleviate Your Continuing Sinusitis Problems

1
TIPS TO ALLEVIATE YOUR CONTINUING SINUSITIS
PROBLEMS
2
Are you suffering from sinus problems for days
i.e. chronic sinusitis?
3
Sinusitis is among the most common medical
conditions requiring treatment every year in the
USA.
4
Sinus infections affect about 40 million people
in our country.
5
Experts offer some tips about how sinusitis is
diagnosed and that could stop it right there.
6
1. What to expect at your appointment
7
Because the symptoms of sinus infections overlap
with other conditions, seeing an ENT specialist
will help narrow down a diagnosis.
8
Note down all of your symptoms so you come
prepared for your appointment.
9
Your sinusitis doctor will go over your medical
history with you to further understand if you
have a history of allergies or any past
conditions.
10
2. Watch your symptoms
11
Acute Sinusitis is inflammation of the tissue
lining your nose and sinuses and is often caused
by a virus or bacterial infection.
12
On top of the stuffy head, runny nose and
sneezing, you could also have pain in your face
and teeth and discolored drainage.
13
3. Give it time and treat as needed
14
Acute sinusitis typically goes away on its own in
seven to 10 days. Your doctor may prescribe
antibiotics if the sinusitis lasts longer.
15
The doctor may also perform an allergy test if
they suspect your sinusitis is a result of
allergies.
16
Chronic sinusitis is different and treating it
requires more time and patience.
17
4. Use over-the-counter drugs with caution
18
Decongestant sprays and drops may relieve your
symptoms for a short time, but sometimes they do
more harm than good.
19
You may also benefit from nasal irrigation like a
Neti pot, which rinses pollutants out of nasal
tissue.
20
5. Balloon Sinuplasty is an option
21
If the treatments above are not effective, or if
nasal polyps develop and block sinus drainage,
balloon sinuplasty could be inevitable.
