Detection Principle
Ideal and versatile detector for accurate
protection
Wide range detection at high speed
Time of Flight (TOF) method By measuring the time
during which emitted beam returns after hitting
an object, the distance to the object can be
calculated.
REDSCAN Pro measures distances at high speed with
angular resolution of 0.125 degrees for
RLS-50100V and 0.25 degrees for RLS-3060V.

• 1. OPTEX polished up LIDAR technology and evolved
  it into security sensor
• 10 years have been passed since we released laser
  scan detector. Since then, we have kept
  listening to the voices in the market and
  considering what our laser scan detectors are
  lacking and how we can meet the demands of
  customers.
• REDSCAN Pro is our answer that we polished up 2D
  LIDAR technology and evolved it into highly
  reliable security sensor by improvement of
  detection performance and environment resistance
  so that it can meet the demands of professionals
  as sensor of security system in the market.

weather. Combining ToF data on multiple time
domains, RLS-Pro stabilizes its performance.
Advanced Echo Analysis RLS Pro analyses multiple
echoes from a suspicious object within a fraction
of a second, validating each echo (Up to 3) to
ensure that a detection is not fooled by adverse
weather conditions.

Auto area adjustment
In snowy conditions, the detection area floor can
change, this could cause false alarms. By using
this function, the REDSCAN Pro unit continuously
adjusts the detection area between the object
height and the previous revised line of the
ground. Adjustment range 1m (3.3ft) as
default, this can be changed to 0-20m (0-65 ft.)

Small Animal Tolerance

• This function is used to reduce false alarms due
  to small animals in the vertical detection area.
• Enable (Default position) The REDSCAN Pro can
  reduce false alarms caused by small animals going
  through the detection area in a short time
  period.
• Disable Will make the REDSCAN Pro more sensitive
  near to the ground.

Features
Environmental Resistance function

• This function is used to reduce false alarms in
  harsh environments, e.g. fog, snow, etc.
• Enable (Default position) The unit can reduce
  false alarms in foggy conditions and can achieve
  a well balanced detection capability.
• Enhanced In the case of heavy fog or snow, this
  setting can be used to reduce false alarms. But,
  the response time in generating the alarms will
  be longer.
• Disable For applications which require a quick
  response (eg PTZ camera control) use the Disable
  position. In this position, there is always a
  possibility that the REDSCAN Pro will produce
  false alarms in harsh environmental conditions.

In harsh environments
The REDSCAN Pro detects intruders during normal
fog and rain conditions. However, during severe
weather conditions such as heavy rain, dense fog
or snow storms, the Redscan detection capability
may be reduced. During such conditions, the
Environmental Disqualification (D.Q.) output will
be activated. When this output is activated,
other solutions are required to secure the area.
OPTEX strongly recommends Redscan users to
monitor DQ output for reliable operation.

  height.

• At the 4.0m installation height, 60 cm higher
  object can be detected.

• For higher security requirement which requires to
  detect crawling person, the unit should be used
  the original detection range.
• The detection range changes depending on the
  ground condition and the reflectance of the
  object. In order to improve the crawling
  detection performance, up to 30-degree angle
  installation is recommended.

• Within 30 m range, the unit can detect 30 cm
  height crawling person.

• At the 4.0m installation height, 60cm higher
  object can be detected.

• Within 30 m radius (100 ft.) range, the unit can
  detect a moving target with a minimum width of a
  30 cm (12 in..). 
• Within the extended detection range between 30 m
  and 50 m range (100 ft. to 165 ft), the RLS-3060V
  can detect white objects which are at least 35 cm
  (14 in.) wide with 90 reflectivity. Larger size
  is required as the object becomes lower
  reflectivity.

• Within 50 m radius (165 ft.) range, the unit can
  detect a moving target with a minimum width of a
  35 cm (14 in.). 
• Within the extended detection range between 50 m
  and 80 m range (165 ft. to 265 ft), the
  RLS-50100V can detect white objects which are at
  least 40 cm (16 in.) wide with 90
  reflectivity. Larger size is required as the
  object becomes lower reflectivity.

• The extended detection area can be used to detect
  larger objects such as vehicles and forklifts,
  but not people.
• Please be aware that the Redscan extended zone
  cannot recognize an object which moves faster
  than 25km/h. So, it cannot be used to monitor
  traffic applications.
• Within the extended detection range, RLS cannot
  stably detect the objects which are 10
  reflectivity.

network security

• 2-4. Programable analog input/outputs
• 1 input and 6 outputs (Alarm, Trouble(Anti-rotatio
  n, Anti-masking, Soiling of window), Tamper, DQ)
• Tamper signal and the following trouble signals
  can be generated separately from alarm signals.

Tamper Is activated when the front cover or the
base cover is opened or the base is removed from
wall/ceiling. Anti-masking Is activated when an
obstacle has been placed in front of the sensor
in order to block the detection area. It is
automatically reset after the obstacle has been
removed. Anti-rotation Is activated when the
area being scanned changes by a significant
amount (unit being rotated etc.) from its
original settings. It can also trigger when the
unit receives a shock. Uniquely to the RS-Mini
this is activated by using a 3-axis
accelerometer. Soiling of the
window Is activated when the front window is
heavily soiled which may induce detection errors.
Clean the front window using a damp
cloth. Sensor error Is activated when the sensor
has detected an internal self check error (laser
fault, mirror rotation etc.).

Boundary Recognition Accuracy (selectable from 3
steps)
3 StepsLow/Normal/High
By changing this parameter that defines the
accuracy for the recognition of the boundary
(e.g. wall, floor, ground), the unit may easily
detect the target which locates near the
boundary.   Default value is Normal. High or
Very High can be selected.  Higher accuracy
condition, the unit can detect the target near
the boundary, on the other hand, there is a
possibility that it makes false alarms by noise
from the surface.    So, need to conduct the
test to check its affect carefully at the actual
site before operation .

Transparent Conductive Film Heater option
The RLS-LWVH has a transparent conductive film
heater inside the laser window, and it can be
selected as an option for cold environments. Norm
ally, the operating temperature of REDSCAN Pro is
-20C to 60C (-5F to 140 F degree). After
changing to RLS-LWVH, it becomes -40 C to 60C
(-40F to 140 F degree).
High effect of direct heating
Heating power settings (4 steps) - 17W -30 C (
-22F ) - 21W -40 C ( -40F ) Default -
