Title: How many US Veterans Faced the Homeless Problem in 2021?

1
How many US Veterans Faced the Homeless Problem
in 2021?
Homeless veterans are those people who have
served in our armed forces and after discharge
from duty living without access to secure and
appropriate accommodation. From 2010 to 2019, the
number of veterans without homes to homeless and
injured veterans reduced by more than 50 percent.
According to latest reports released by the
department of housing and urban development, the
number of homeless veterans.
2
increased in 2020 after the effects of the corona
virus pandemic. It also damaged financial
resources and employment prospects badly for the
community. The situation of veterans
homelessness became worse in 2021 due to the
after effects of pandemic. The people of United
States were become more aware of this problem
only after the Vietnam War. The main reasons
behind veteran homelessness post-Vietnam War
period were the lack of economic stability,
economic hardships and proper community for
homeless veterans.
3
In addition, veterans from recent conflicts are
also affected. According to estimates around
40,000 veterans are homeless on any given night
which is the major problem that the country is
facing and trying to address by using homeless
veterans program USA.

Leading Causes of Veteran Homelessness
There are several causes that lead to veteran
homelessness some of them are discussed here
Mental Illness Study shows that mental disorders
are very common among homeless veterans. PTSD and
Anxiety has been identified as the leading mental
disorder among veterans. Such illnesses
contribute to homelessness of the veterans after
discharge from active duty.
Unemployment There are several studies which
find that unemployment is one of the main factors
that contribute to veteran homelessness. Veterans
often face difficulty to get a job due to various
reasons that may include mental or physical
problems and substance abuse. Statistics show
that unemployment is one of the main causes for
veterans poverty and homelessness.
5
Lack of Support and Social Isolation
As veterans have low marriage and high divorce
rates, study shows that social isolation and lack
of proper support like a good community for
homeless veterans also increases the risk of
homelessness among veterans.
Substance Abuse Substance abuse includes both
alcohol and drug abuse, is one of the main
factors of homelessness among veterans and causes
difficulty in finding homes to homeless and
injured veterans. Haven4heros offers homeless
veterans program across USA and aims to improve
the lives of homeless veterans by providing homes
to homeless and injured veterans as well as
community for homeless veterans.
