around the globe. Jawaharlal Nehru University has

HISTORY
Named after the first Prime Minister of India,
the University was established in the year 1969.
On its establishment and passing of the bill in
parliament, discussions were made to make the
University unique, thus seeding a core idea in
its pillars to help the weaker section of the
Society. Ideas of developing new faculties were
made viable. Moreover, the University merged
with the School of International Studies in
1970. To begin, JNU started with a few schools
and centers, and at present, it successfully
operates 19 schools and centers, which has
enabled JNU to provide recognition to the
institute. The likes of which include Army Cadet
College Dehradun and Central Drug Research
Institute Lucknow, among many. The vibrant
history of JNU is incomplete without mentioning
JNU's notable alumni. Among many JNU has
produced students who have gone on to lead world
Banks to win Noble, to mention a few of them,
Abhijit Banerjee (Noble Laureate), Apurva Sarin
(N-Bios Laureate) Ali Zeidan (Prime Minister of
Libya).

National) At the Present time, Jawaharlal
Nehru University Delhi ranks among the top 3
universities in India. Another Key point about
JNU is to consider its past performance and
ranking. The President of India awarded "Best
University" to JNU lately. Moreover, the
University consistently ranks among the top three
universities in India. JNU secured 1st position
on the Week Magazines ranking and 181st in Times
Asia Ranking.

INFRASTRUCTURE
JNU's annual budget ranges from 180-200 crore, in
addition to which JNU receives a hefty amount of
donations from public and private organizations.
In 2020 alone, it secured funding of 455 crores
from HEFA. Although a large part of the budget is
spent on existing mammoth-like Infrastructure
JNU, still JNU manages to improve its quality of
educational sphere from time to time. Securing
its recent funding, JNU, without delay, plans to
add hostels and research buildings like Animal
research centers. Hostel Mess JNU Delhi's Mess
is not only famous in the institute but also
considered renowned by many outside the
University. The Mess is known for its delicious
hygienic meals offered at lower rates than
normal, all thanks to the subsidized rates.
Hostel life at JNU is unlike any other
institute. It has 18 hostels divided among boys,
girls, and married couples. The hostels are
divided into khands (wings-like south wing) for
ease of recognition. Hostel life in JNU is
considered by many ex-students as one of the best
phases of life. JNU hostel life is all this done
well to clarify more on this one only needs to
check the 139 pages long hostel manual.

Research Centres and Labs In 10 schools
presently, JNU hosts labs and instruments
facilities from one kind to another. In its
school of biotechnology alone, JNU has seven
research facilities. Namely, some of which are
Recombinant Product Development Facility of GLP
standard, Microscopic Facility. Besides these,
JNU also has research and labs like ETC
(EXPERIMENTAL - THEORETICAL COMPUTATIONAL
Lab), which serves as a pioneering instrument for
those interested in Econophysics, Sociophysics,
Statistical Physics, Nanomaterial Science, EEG
analyses and pattern recognition, Big Data
analytics, etc. Library and Computer
Lab Institute of this stature couldn't have done
a mediocre job just by having a physical library.
JNU made sure the library stands out with its
enormous collection of Journals, books and
papers not only in physical form but also in
digital formats. In other words, JNU's library
alone is a staggering nine-story building with
books stacked heavily throughout. A total of 5.68
lakhs collected items, including books, serials,
and papers, sit at JNU's library. In addition to
this, JNU also has a subscription to 900 journal
titles and Many E-book lenders for its
students. Sports The University owns a stadium.
Games played in the University are Athletics,
Badminton, Cricket, Chess, Football,
Mountaineering and Trekking, Volleyball,
Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weight-Power
Lifting, Bench Press, Body Building, and Yoga.
The University also has clubs for particular
sports like the Cricket and football club. Many
JNU sports persons have even won accolades to
the length of Gold medals on a national
level. Other Facilities Other Facilities include
Bank, ATM, Post office, Shopping stores, and
Guest Houses.

Courses
A variety of courses are available at JNU, from
UG, PG to M.phil and Ph.D. Jawaharlal Nehru
University was the first University in India to
provide 5 years integrated course on M.A. Courses
like M.A. in political science, Sociology, and
Economics M.Sc. in biotechnology and
Environmental Sciences are offered. Placements The
placements in JNU are always into well-off
organizations. The lowest packages offered a
stand at around 4.5 lakhs, and the highest
packages can range above 15 lakhs. Many of the
students desire to enroll in higher studies and
becoming professors themselves as a matter of
