Title: Types of Lasik Laser Eye Surgery
1Types of LASIK Laser Eye Surgery
2Introduction
Laser in-situ keratomileusis or LASIK as we most
commonly know is a popular surgery that has been
around for more than 25 years and is considered
as a minimum standard for someone opting for
laser vision correction. The LASIK technology
can correct vision problems such as myopia,
hyper-myopia, and astigmatism. It can be
performed in less than 30 minutes by reshaping
your cornea.
3Types of Lasik Eye Surgery
- Lasik Laser Eye Surgery is the most popular form
of eye surgery for specs removal. But it has
evolved over the years and provides much better
visual outcomes. - Today, Lasik Technology is of 4 types
- Bladeless Femto LASIK
- SBK (Thin Flap) LASIK
- Aspheric or Customised LASIK or C-LASIK
- Standard LASIK
4Bladeless Lasik
Bladeless Lasik or popular by names such as Femto
LASIK, iLASIK, zLASIK, All-Laser LASIK
Intralase LASIK is an eye surgery that utilizes
two lasers Femto Second Laser and Excimer
Laser. The Femto Second Laser is used to create
a flap and then Excimer Laser is used to ablade
the cornea and correct the spectacle power.
5SBK Lasik
In SBK LASIK a microkeratome blade is used to
create a flap. This blade can create a flap of
110 microns compared to the 90 microns flap of
Blade-Less LASIK. Although we lose 20 microns of
additional tissue in SBK LASIK, but not using a
Femto laser for the flap brings down the cost of
the procedure drastically. Today SBK LASIK has
become the minimum standard for somebody looking
for specs removal.

7C-LASIK
Aspheric or C-LASIK uses the normal version of
the keratome which picks up a flap of 160
microns. A flap once picked up, is replaced back
after laser correction of the underlying corneal
tissue. However, it does not effectively
contribute again to the basic strength of the
cornea. The cost comes further down with this
treatment. The treated and non-treated areas of
the eye are blended with each other with
Aspheric treatment resulting in reduced Halo and
Glare.
8Standard Lasik
It is the C-LASIK as described previously, but
without the aspheric component. It is good
enough to correct the refractive error but does
not give the advantage of improved contrast. The
element of halos and glare is more in this
version while the cost is the lowest.
