Recently, Cosmo Films came together with Labels
Labeling Magazine and brought their magazine
cover alive with Cosmo Synthetic Paper (CSP). The
superior printing ability of CSP allowed the
magazine cover to feature a unique design, which
was the biggest challenge for any brand using
synthetic paper.

The magazine cover design required a great print
quality foil stamping to emphasize one of its
whisky label articles featured within. Adam
Evans (LL head designer) brilliantly adapted the
design for the magazine to justify the theme
the concern.

The Challenge
Hot foil stamping requires the use of heat to
apply foil onto the desired substance Synthetic
paper. The problem was the high temperature which
can melt the synthetic substrates.

In the UK, LL chose Cosmo Synthetic Paper to
tackle the challenge. They collaborated with
Duraseal and started trials on printed Cosmo
Synthetic paper. As expected, the foil adhered
perfectly to the printed synthetic paper.
How Cosmo Synthetic Paper Helped?
This was the first time a hot foil stamping was
done on a synthetic substrate, so the LL design
deviated from the printing traditions.
