Title: Why Sulphate Is Bad For Your Hair Extensions

1
Why Sulphate Is Bad For Your Hair Extensions
  • Sulfates are what is called surfactants Their
job is to reduce the level of surface tension
between your shampoo and your skin, allowing the
active ingredients in the shampoo to do a more
effective job of cleaning dirt, oil and dead skin
from your scalp and hair. Though sulfates have
been considered safe in low quantities by the
FDA, research done by the American College of
    Toxicology discovered that concentrations over
one percent can prompt cellular damage. Most
shampoos available today have a concentration of
    fifteen percent or more.

How does this affect you?
  • If you have sensitive skin, you will want to
use Paraben and Sulfate Free Shampoo to better
nourish and condition your hair. If you have skin
issues like eczema or psoriasis, sulfates may
cause a flare-up. People who have dry hair,
should avoid shampoos with sulfate as it will
cause your hair to become drier as sulfates
prevent your hair from receiving natural oils. If
you want to experiment with color, a paraben and
sulphate free shampoo can help sustain your color
    and prevent it from discolouring.

Why is sulphate based shampoo not recommended for
hair extensions?
  • Using a sulfate based shampoo on hair extensions
is even worse than using it on real hair.
Sulfates are damaging to your hair extensions and
unlike your natural hair the extensions arent
affixed to your scalp, so they do not receive
natural oils needed to restore moisture and keep
    them healthy.

Tips to wash your hair extensions
  • Prior to immersing your extensions into the
water, properly detangle your hair from tips to
roots with the help of a wide-tooth comb. Always
use lukewarm water when cleaning your extensions
because it opens the cuticles without encouraging
tangles. Once your hair is properly soaked in
water, wring most of the water out. Then apply a
palm-size amount of your favourite paraben and
sulphate free shampoo to get rid of any oil, and
dirt build up. It is recommended to lather and
rinse two times  to make sure you get rid of all
    dirt and oil.
