Mookaite Jasper
  • Mookaite Jasper is totally unique to Australia.
    Found in the mid-1960s, this gorgeous stone is
    known for its vivid colours of yellow, cream,
    brown, red and purple/burgundy.
  • This Western Australia region was once part of
    the inland sea which evaporated long ago and led
    to the formation of Mookaite Jasper.

Australian Opal
  • Opal is the national gemstone of Australia.
  • Coober Pedy is known for opal mining sites in
    Australia and was established in 1916. In fact,
    this place is known as the Opal capital of the
    world.
  • New South Wales is known for its black opal
    crystals while Boulder Opal Crystals are found in
    Queensland.

Stichtite
  • Dundas was an eminent mining hub for silver and
    lead in the 1890s. In 1910, the crystal Stichtite
    was found and was named after Rober Carl Sticht.
  • Stichtite is a beautiful crystal with pink to
    purple shades. Serpentine is bright lime green to
    a dull olive-green crystal.

Prehnite
  • Prehnite crystals are said to be originated from
    a place in the Northern Territory known as Wave
    Hill, and that Australia supplies over 90 of
    prehnite in the world.
  • Australia exported Prehnite crystals to Germany
    in the 1960s.

Sapphire
  • In Australia, sapphire is found in several east
    coast areas, from northeast Tasmania to north
    Queensland. The largest deposits are found in New
    South Wales, New England area, around Inverell
    and Glen Innes, and in Central Queensland, around
    Rubyvale and Anakie.

  • Ruby is found at various sites across New South
    Wales, including the Macquarie and Cudgegong
    Rivers, Tumbarumba and the New England area.
  • The most important sites are located near
    Gloucester, in the drainage of the Barrington
    volcano. This area is also popular for fossicking
    activities for ruby, sapphire and gold.
