• First and foremost, happy new year! I hope
  everyone is keeping safe and well. Despite the
  impact the pandemic is having across the country,
  I am delighted that we continue to be busy
  leading a variety of deals. One of those more
  recent deals was for client Jhoots Chemist Ltd
  regarding the acquisition of 20 pharmacy
  businesses from Lloyds Pharmacy in various
  locations across England and Wales.
• This was a transaction where we took care of
  everything - from property, contractual and
  ownership issues for an established corporate who
  we have an excellent, growing relationship with.

I approached Mel after he acted on a matter
whilst on the opposite side to us. My team and I
were impressed by his pharmacy knowledge. This is
why we appointed him to deal with the bulk
acquisition of 20 pharmacies from Lloyds
Pharmacy. It was a complicated and arduous road,
Mel and his team had to deal with countless law
firms as well the lawyers acting for our lender.
It was impressive job as the quarter back! Our

"Welsh care home purchase"
One of our more recent deals was supporting on
the acquisition of the 19-bed Coed Mor Care Home
in north Wales. We were instructed in June amid
the grasp of lockdown. Not only did we have some
tricky drafting to do on the documents (due to a
deferred element on the valuation) but also
pushed through the sale at the height of Covid.
This could have been a stressful sale but we
completed in October. It also showed how superbly
lawyers can work from home using technology such
as Microsoft Teams and Docusign (electronic)
signatures.

DENTAL PROPERTY LEASE RENEWALS IN BIRMINGHAM

"Dental property lease renewals in Birmingham"
Within our latest batch of dental deals was our
work supporting Dr Sandeep Kumar with the
renewal of two property leases for his existing
dental premises in the Handsworth area of
Birmingham. This needed us to act quickly and we
were delighted to get the lease arrangements
confirmed and signed - ensuring that everything
was taken care of as part of the Landlord and
Tenant Act. We worked closely with our client
and the landlord throughout to ensure a smooth
transaction.
