The Necessities of Conducting Ear Examination for
Children What do You Need to Know about
Menieres Disease
2
  • Ear examination is extremely necessary especially
for children as some minor problems can grow
larger in quick time and can even halt your
    hearing abilities.
  • So, if your child is experiencing the following
problems, get them to best children ENT in
    Singapore as soon as possible.
  • Earache
  • Ear infection
  • Hearing loss
  • Ringing in the ear
  • The child specialist ENT doctor will diagnose
your kids ear for any infections or other
problems and then will prescribe the necessary
    treatment.

3
Ear examination When to perform?
  • If you take your child for regular health
screening, they will conduct an ear examination.
  • But if your child experiences the
following, you must seek ear examination from a
certified child ENT specialist near you.
  • Head injury
  • Chronic ear infection
  • Punctured eardrum

4
Ear examination How is it performed?
  • When you will take your child to an ENT
specialist, they will dim the lights in the exam
room as in that way, it will become easier to see
the ear canal or eardrum using an otoscope.
  • An otoscope is a handheld light that has a
removable cone-shaped plastic tip, which allows
    the doctor to see.
  •
  • After that, the doctor will place the tip
of the otoscope into your ear and will carefully
rotate it in different directions to see the
inside of your ear and eardrum.
  • In most cases, the young children are asked
to lie on their back and their heads turned to
the side, so the doctor can see through one ear
    canal at a time.

Ear examination Outlook Most ear infections can
be easily diagnosed only if you can seek for
possible measures as soon as the symptoms
appear. Your child will be given antibiotics and
even after that if the symptoms dont get any
better, they will go for advance diagnostic to
know the cause of the discomfort. Menieres
disease What is it? Menieres disease is a type
of ear disorder that affects the inner ear, which
is associated with hearing and balance. This may
cause vertigo, spinning sensation, and can also
lead to hearing imperfections, like ringing sound
in the ear. Menieres disease mostly affects one
ear and happens during or after the 40s and 50s.
Though the disease is considered a chronic
disease, treatments and lifestyle changes can
help to ease the symptoms and eventually the
problem itself. Causes The root cause of
Menieres disease is still unknown, but several
ENT specialists believe that the changes in the
fluid in the ear tubes or autoimmune diseases,
and allergies can cause this condition and in
some cases, they are purely genetic.
