Title: How has Lebanese Education System Affected the Personality Development of School Students
1How has Lebanese Education System Affected the
Personality Development of School Students The
personality of the student contributes to the
academic motivation and performance of school
students. It is the foundation of their
interaction with colleagues and teachers and also
shapes their future in society. The personality
traits, as stated in the Myers and Briggs theory
of personality, plays a vital role even in
childhood behaviour. These traits influence not
only the goals a student sets for themselves,
but also influences the path which the student
takes in achieving these goals. Research has
emphasized that the 'Big Five Personality Traits'
play a significant role in developing traits
suitable for a healthy personality in a student.
These Big Five Traits are Neuroticism,
Extraversion, Openness to Experience,
Agreeableness and Conscientiousness.
- So, in this blog, we see how these personality
traits affect the development of school students - Conscientiousness Conscientiousness has been
linked to educational achievement and
particularly to the will to achieve. Those who
are conscientious are expected to be successful
in their work or careers. In work settings,
recent research has demonstrated that managers
perceive cognitive ability and Conscientiousness
as the most important attributes related to
whether or not an applicant is hireable. - Extraversion Students who score high on
extraversion of the personality trait scale are
usually sociable, talkative, communicative, and
friendly. They also have intrinsic motivation and
a positive attitude. Such students can also be
described as active, bold, assertive, exciting,
and stimulating. Such traits make for
'extroverts' who go out of their way to achieve
their goals and make their place in society.
2- Neuroticism Students must score low on
neuroticism. Low neuroticism ensures that the
students are calm and relaxed in the work
environment at school. They have lower levels of
anxiety and depression in their personal lives.
Scoring high on this personality trait can hamper
their academic motivation and hinder their
performance in studies. - Agreeableness This trait is seen to score higher
in female students than male students. A high
score in friendliness leads to the student being
kind, merciful, forgiving and understanding. Such
a trait increases the likeable factor within
students, making them more social and responsible
within their peers. - What is the Importance of Teacher's Attributes
(H2) - Each individual's characteristic traits affect
the manner and behaviour in their interaction
with other people - especially when it comes to
communication between the teacher and the
student. - Personality traits facilitate the learning
process - especially when learning is taking
place during the absence of verbal
communication. If there is a positive
student-teacher relationship with a low presence
of conflict and high support, the students
benefit from it greatly. It is known to affect
social skills and promotes academic performance. - The teacher exhibits good behaviours related to
agreeable traits and acts as a role model in
front of the students. In this way, a teacher
can stimulate the process of developing these
amiable traits in their personalities. - The best international schools in Malaysia aim at
developing an effective education system.
Ensuring that these traits in the students are
honed according to the requirements, they shape
them into good citizens and active members of
society.
