Fear of Lab Tests
2
Whenever you hear that someone you know needs to
have lab tests done at a Medical Lab Near Me,
what's your reaction? A sharp intake of breath
followed by the words "Oh no"? That or something
similar, no doubt. So what do you do when you're
at your doctor's office and hear the words "You
need Clinical Laboratory Tests Services"? Panic
sets in, blood rushes to your head your heart
skips a beat and then moves into a wild rhythm.
Life as you know it is over. It must be, right?
Okay, that's easier said than done and it
doesn't help when the results come in and the
medical terminologies fly over your head, making
little or no sense. And what happens when the
results are positive? Everything the doctor says
goes in one ear and straight out the other. The
sound of your pulse pounding in your head blocks
out anything after that, allowing your head to
fill with all of the 'worst case scenarios' it
can think up. There are a few things you should
know in advance about Bahrain Medical Laboratory
Center, that will help you to understand and
deal with the situation. First of all, 5 of lab
tests will come back as 'abnormal' even if there
is nothing wrong and the subject is a fit and
healthy individual. Statistically speaking, if
you have 20 lab tests done, one of them will be
'out of normal range' even if you're perfectly
fine.
3
The 'normal' test range is determined by removing
the 2.5 from both the top and bottom of any
large group. Therefore, 'normal' covers only 95
of completely healthy people. If your tests come
back as 'abnormal' there is a 5 chance that the
results are normal for you you just happen to
fall into the very top or very bottom of the
'normal' range. Feeling even more confused?
Don't be. All that this means is that your test
results have to be assessed for your particular
case. A single test result, or even a series of
test results, will have to be evaluated based on
your specific situation. Medical diagnoses cannot
be determined just on lab tests doing so could
cause more problems. And it's not just blood
work MRI, ultrasound and x-ray tests also need
to be put into perspective. If you have any
questions related to your lab tests, discuss them
with your doctor and get all of the information
you need.
