Title: Principles Involve in Oxford Bibliography Style

1
Principles Involve in Oxford Bibliography Style
  • Oxford citation style is created for Legal
Authorities by the Oxford University. If you are
a law student, you must learn everything about
this citation style since you will have to cite
all your paper using this particular citation
    style.
  • Creating oxford bibliography is not an easy task,
especially if you are not aware of the principles
of this particular citation style. But before
getting into the principle, you must get to know
the three elements- in-text citation, footnotes
    and bibliography.

Oxford bibliography
  • In-text example The distance was pretty obvious.
    1
  • Footnote example
  • 1 Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice (Thomas
    Eagerton, 1813)
  • Reference list example
  • Austen, Jane, Pride and prejudice (Thomas
    Eagerton, 1813)
  • So lets not keep you in the dark anymore, here
are the principles of oxford citation style
  • 1.Footnotes
  • ?Put the superscript number after full stop or
    comma
  • ? In case of more than one citation in a single
footnote, separate the two citations using a
    semi-colon
  • ?Add the footnote marker at the end of the
sentence. If you need clarity, you can add
directly to the relevant word or phrase.
  • ?Footnotes are given only when the source is
    cited for the first time.
  • ?The footnote will provide information about the
    author, title and publication.
  • ?In case of quotes or paraphrases, adding page
number n footnotes will be useful as the readers
will easily locate the specific passage in the
    content.
  • 2.Name of authors
  • ?Keep the name of the authors exactly how it
    appears in the publication.
  • ?In case there are more than 3 authors add the
name of the first author, followed by and
    others
  • ? In case there is an organization or institution
instead of an author, then identify the
    organization as the author.
