Title: 4G and LTE: Difference Explained

1
4g and lte whats the difference?
2
What is 4G?
  • 4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone
technology. It follows on from the existing 3G
(third generation) and 2G (second generation)
    mobile technology.
  • Standard 4G is around 5 to 7 times faster than
    3G.
  • Theoretically, it offers speeds of up to 150Mbps.
  • This means that in the real world, the maximum
potential speeds are up to 80Mbps.
  • In India, Jio is one of the first companies to
    offer truly 4G speeds.

What is lte?
  • LTE stands for Long Term Evolution.
  • It is not as much a technology as it is the path
    followed to achieve 4G speeds.
  • When the ITU-R set the minimum speeds for 4G,
they were a bit unreachable, despite the money
tech manufacturers put into achieving them.
  • So, the regulating body used labeled LTE as 4G as
it was still a substantial improvement over the
    3G technology.
  • 4G LTE was hence, displayed on the phone screens
    before true 4G was launched.

4g v/s lte
  • In most cases, when it comes to download speeds,
there is a substantial difference between the two
    4G being faster.
  • As cellular carriers continue to update their LTE
network, they have closed the gap between LTE and
    real 4G.
  • To take full advantage of 4G, you will need a
smartphone or a tablet with 4G support. Older
mobile devices cannot provide 4G speeds because
they arent built to handle it.
