Disabled Veterans Charities Puts Donations into
the Right Hands
1888PressRelease - Disabled Veterans Charities
Carefully Vets Organizations Before Making
Grants. REDLANDS, Calif. - Last year, Americans
gave 427.71 billion to charity, according to
Giving USA. But how do donors know if they are
supporting organizations where their dollars will
count? With Disabled Veterans Charities,
supporters can be confident their donations will
make a difference because of the vetting process
it follows before granting funds. Disabled
Veterans Charities is a 501(C)(3) orgnization
that funds local organizations who support
Southern California at-risk veterans and their
families by providing access to the services,
resources and support needed to face the
challenges of homelessness and improve their
lifes. Before awarding grants, Disabled Veterans
Charities vets each organization through a
detailed process to ensure they meet specific
criteria for giving. Not only does Disabled
Veterans Charities review each nonprofits
history, but it also looks at the outcomes of
their efforts and impact on those they set out to
help. Among the factors it considers before
deciding a charity are Who else funds them
and whether there are broad sources of support
over time How they are managed, if there is
proper oversight and their pledges to
transparency Where the dollars go we even
talk to beneficiaries to see what they have to
say We know donors have seemingly limitless
opportunities today to give to charitable causes
so we want to make sure those who support
Disabled Veterans Charities know that their
dollars are going to a reputable organization who
will use the funds to do good and not just
cover administrative costs, said Disabled
Veterans Charities General Manager Jo Anne
Rodriguez. Here, the donations are earmarked
specifically for local Southern California
organizations whose mission is to help at-risk
veterans and their families, with an emphasis on
eliminating homelessness. Pledges to Disabled
Veterans Charities go to area programs that help
those who need it most through counseling,
housing, career assistance, and support for their
widows and dependents, such as U.S. Veterans
Initiatives and Project Healing Waters.
