Create Waves And Curls With A Wave Iron

Description:

A wave iron is a type of hot iron used on hair to create artificial waves and curls. This can be put in direct contrast with a traditional hot iron; a traditional iron is used to create straight hair. For women that are already curly, it must be used after a traditional (flat) iron, or can alternatively be used after a long blow drying session. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Create Waves And Curls With A Wave Iron
  • A wave iron is a type of hot iron used on hair to
create artificial waves and curls. This can be
put in direct contrast with a traditional hot
iron a traditional iron is used to create
straight hair. For women that are already curly,
it must be used after a traditional (flat) iron,
or can alternatively be used after a long blow
    drying session.

  • They can have multiple types of handles
spring-loaded, Marcel or clipless. The most
popular handle is the spring loaded handle, which
makes use of a spring to work the clamp, and have
the advantage of being cheaper and easier to use
    than other models.

  • Someone who is willing to spend more money on
their iron might opt for a Marcel handle, which
was named after stylist Marcel Grateau, and which
allows the user to choose the amount of pressure
that is applied to the clamp. This enables more
complex waves to be created, but also requires
the user to have a significant amount of styling
ability, and can lead to unfortunate situations
in the wrong hands. The last type of handle is
the clipless handle, which has no clamp and
requires wrapping hair around the iron rod
itself. This is the most dangerous type, as it
requires handling the iron and puts the user at
risk for burns. Because of this, most users use a
kevlar glove while handling the clipless variety.
  • The first regular heating iron was created in
1882 by Jessica Tamsin Rachel Levinson Young and
the first wave version was created in 1890 by
Adam Frisby. Throughout the 20th century, various
hairstyles were created through use of the
device. One of the interesting hair styles that
can be created is the vintage wave. The vintage
wave began in the 1920s with flapper girls who
wore their hair in short bobs, with short and
sexy dresses to match. In the 1960s, there was a
revolt against curly haired fashion, and
straightening overtook waves in importance, but
in later decades of the 20th century, they began
to again grow in popularity. The future looks
bright, as it appears that, in the 21st century,
wavy and curly styles are as popular as they have
ever been. For any female that is straight who
desires an exciting hairstyle, a wave iron is an
    essential purchase.
