PROVIDENT FUND
  • Provident fund is controlled under the purview of
    the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)
    which is one of the worlds largest social
    security organizations in terms of the clientele
    and the volume of the financial transactions
    undertaken
  • Companies which have the strength of 20 employees
    or more should register themselves according to
    the Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous
    Provisions Act, 1952.
  • On a voluntary basis, organizations with less
    than 20 employees can also contribute towards
    the EPF. The employer and the employee each
    contribute 12 of the employees basic salary
    towards the EPF.

ESIC
  • Employee State Insurance is a self-financing
    social security scheme and health insurance plan
    for Indian workers, offering medical and
    disablement benefits. Governed by the ESI Act,
    1948.
  • All establishments/units/factories with over 10
    employees (earning less than Rs. 15,000 per
    month) are required to mandatorily apply for the
    ESI registration within 15 days of the ESI Act,
    1948 becoming applicable to them.
  • According to the Act, any employee earning less
    than Rs. 15,000 per month needs to
  • contribute 0.75 of his/her pay towards the ESI,
    while 3.25 will be contributed
  • towards his/her ESI by the company. The ESI
    scheme provides tremendous benefits to the
    employees, and has a large network of
    dispensaries, and hospitals throughout the
    country.

PROCEDURE FOR EPF REGISTRATION FOR EMPLOYERS
  • Step 1 Registering the organization with EPFO
  • Step 2 Reading and understanding of User Manual
  • Step 3 Registering a Digital Signature
    Certificate (DSC)
  • Step 4 Filling the details of the employer
  • Step 5 Filling the details correctly

PROCEDURE FOR ESIC REGISTRATION FOR EMPLOYERS
  • Step 1 Once the documents are ready, the company
    can apply for registration by submitting the
    Employers Registration Form (Form-1).
  • Step 2 A PDF format of the form is available on
    the website. Fill in the form and submit it to
    ESIC for registration on the official website.
  • Step 3 Once verified, a registration number, a
    17-digit unique identity will be provided to the
    organization. The ESI filings can be done once
    you receive the 17-digit number.
  • Step 4 Employees registered under the scheme get
    an ESI card after submitting a form with
    photographs and details of family members.
  • Step 5 Although the registration is permanent,
    and the number is valid for the lifetime of the
    company, any new changes, such as employee
    additions, need to be intimated to the ESI.
