Introduction
  • The pain which occurs around the teeth and jaws
    can be called as toothache. If the pain persists
    for more than 2 days, it is best to seek advice
    from the dentist. Until then, the simple home
    remedies available at home may provide temporary
    relief from the discomfort.

What are The Causes of Toothaches?
  • Tooth decay, an infection, lose or broken
    fillings, or receding gums can cause it.
  • Mouth or jaw injury
  • Tooth fracture
  • Sinus infection leads to toothaches.
  • Tooth decay Due to bacterial invasion tooth
    decay occurs, where the nerves in the teeth may
    be exposed, causing pain.
  • Losing a filling If the filling in the mouth is
    lost, the nerve inside the tooth may be exposed
    causing pain.
  • Abscessed or infected tooth Due to the dental
    abscess, pus is formed in the tooth, which may
    lead to toothache.
  • Accumulation of food particles and debris between
    your teeth. This can happen especially if the
    teeth have spaces between them.
  • Teething or wisdom teeth crowning If the wisdom
    teeth are coming in, as well as breaking through
    the gums, they may be pressing against other
    teeth.
  • Temporomandibular joint disorders are a disease
    affecting the jaw joint, but can also affect your
    teeth.
  • Gum disease Diseases such as gingivitis or
    periodontal disorders can cause toothaches or
    pain.
  • Grinding You may grind or clench your teeth at
    night during sleep which can cause additional
    pain.

  • Sharp, throbbing, or constant pain in the mouth
  • Tooth pain sometimes that occurs when pressure is
    applied
  • Swelling associated with painful gums
  • Bad taste in the mouth which may occur due to an
    infection in a tooth

  • If the toothache is associated with fever.
  • Signs and symptoms of infection, such as swelling
    which causes difficulty in chewing, redness in
    gums or a foul-tasting discharge.

    swallowing.

1. Chewing clove buds
  • This is the most common and effective home remedy
    for toothache which is followed from time
    unknown. Chewing the clove bud during the time of
    toothache helps to relieve the condition. The
    clove bud can be kept in between the site of pain
    toothache which gives the fast result to pain
    relief.

2. Clove oil pulling
  • Clove oil or 3 pinches of Clove powder mixed with
    coconut oil should be used for Oil pulling. Focus
    on swishing the oil in the area of pain to
    prevent the numbing in the whole mouth.
  • Clove contains Eugenol which acts as a natural
    anesthetic. It helps in numbing and reducing the
    pain to ease a toothache. Eugenol also holds good
    in anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to
    reduce swelling and irritation in the affected
    area.

3. Salt water Rinsing
  • Rinsing the mouth with warm salt water is a
    preventive and very helpful remedy in solving
    toothache. This should be continued thrice daily.
    This remedy is helpful in reducing pain and
    inflammation.

4. Garlic paste application
  • Garlic has been known as a medicine to humanity
    since for thousands of years. In the condition of
    tooth ache create a paste of garlic with a pinch
    of salt and apply in the site of pain.
    Alternatively, chewing fresh garlic can also be
    opted. It not only kills harmful bacteria that
    cause dental plaque but also is an excellent pain
    reliever.

5. Cinnamon powder with Honey
  • Cinnamon powder, when combined honey produces a
    soothing effect. This can be applied to the site
    of pain or infection. It instantly relieves pain.
    Both honey and cinnamon possess anti-bacterial
    properties that work wonders for oral health.
