3The Role of the Federal Agency for Maritime and
River Transportation (Russian Federation) The
Federal Agency for Maritime and River
Transportation in the Russian Federation, known
as Rosmorrechflot, is the federal ex- ecutive
body responsible for the management of state
property, provision of services for inland and
maritime waterway transport, and the maintenance
of security-relat- ed transport tasks. It falls
under the jurisdiction of the Russian Fed-
erations Ministry of Transport.
Integration The works of Rosmorrechflot in-
clude projects designed to inte- grate into the
transport system of the world, along with other
activi- ties relating to transit.
Quality Criteria Rosmorrechflot is targeted with
ensuring that maritime and water- way transport
is competitive and maintaining volume and
availabil- ity, in accordance with cargo own-
er criteria for quality.
" Navigational support for vessels is provided
on an international, collaborative basis in a
variety of ways, including coordinated search
and rescue (SAR).
Law Enforcement and Public Services Rosmorrechflo
t maintains respon- sibility for ensuring the
law is up- held and enforced in all areas per-
taining to transport by sea or by waterway. It
is also responsible for developing the ports,
the marine fishing sector and related infra-
structure. Obligations that arise from the
Russian Federations par- ticipation in
international treaties also fall under the remit
of Ros- morrechflot.
