What is a DG set?

• A diesel genset converts mechanical energy
  produced by an internal combustion engine into
  electrical power.
• Basically, a generator using an IC engine that
  burns diesel is called a DG set.
• When construction sites, businesses or
  residential buildings dont have access to
  reliable utility power, diesel generators are
  used as an alternate source of power during power
  cuts or failure.
• Apart from being a reliable power backup DG sets
  also safeguard machinery from potential damage
  caused due to sudden power outages.
