Indian Students
2
An MBBS degree is still one of the most sought
after in India, but with increasing competition
for medical posts in the country, more students
are now study MBBS in Abroad. We take a look at
the various options available to perform an MBBS
degree abroad. According to data from the
National Board of Examinations (NBE), since 2011,
China has been the most preferred destination for
Indian students who wish to obtain a primary
medical qualification outside of India. Russia,
Ukraine, and Georgia are other favorite
options. For most of the Indian students,
economics is the determining factor, since
medical education in India has a high price that
they cant afford. Indian students who hold a
bachelor's degree in MBBS in China, for example,
have to pay only between 30 and 35 Lakhs for the
course that lasts 4.5 years plus one year of
internship. However, the quality of education in
some countries often leaves much to be desired,
and students who have completed the course of
studies at lower universities Abroad often cant
pass the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates
Examination) which is mandatory to obtain the
registration of Medical Council of India (MCI) is
necessary to practice in India.

China- While study MBBS in China for Indian
students is relatively cheap, the quality of
education in some medical universities in
China is not on par with other countries. Be sure
to choose a category a medical college in
China to ensure that the level of education is
good. Indian students also face other problems,
such as the language barrier (knowing Mandarin is
a must to survive!) Some foreign students also
cant adapt to local cuisine, especially those
who are vegetarians or insist on halal food. The
estimated budget is around INR 30 Lakh up for A
Grade universities and around INR 20 Lakh for B
Grade universities. Also check the cost of
living, transportation and other miscellaneous
expenses. Scholarships may be available for
economically weaker students, although few are
available for Indian students.
4
Philippines- Students in the Philippines must
first take an 18 months pre-medical course, after
which they must pass a National Medical Test
(NMAT) with a minimum score of 50 percentile. If
you do not pass this exam within 2 years, you
will be denied admission and will be returned.
The cost of education is very cheap and reaches
approximately 12 to 15 Lakhs for the MBBS degree.
However, be careful with universities that are
not affiliated with hospitals and that do not
offer practical learning opportunities. Reference
