1
Can you see the Northern Lights from Reykjavík
during winter?
The answer is yes. Aurora Borealis or the
Northern Lights as it is known as one of the best
sights to behold. There are impressionist strikes
across the winter skys canvas and takes any
spectators breath, away. Aurora is usually, the
result of the solar particles that enter the
magnetic field of Earth at a very high
temperature, besides ionizing. The intensity of
theirs depends on the suns activity and the
particles acceleration speed. These contribute
to being dancing lights that are high in the sky
and with varying colour.
2
The best month to see
Darkness is the guiding factor to see Aurora and
must be located at high latitude, meaning
darkness does not exist during these months. The
time period extends from mid of April until the
middle of August. Northern Lights tour in Iceland

The appropriate weather conditions
The Northern Lights can be seen in the city but
few criteria have to be met. All one needs is
clear skies and darkness. For having a successful
Northern Lights tour in Iceland, this criteria
has to be present, all of which can be found
mostly during the winter months. It also means
that on midsummer days, the sky shall be alive
with the aurora activity. This implies that it
may be obscured by the suns brightness. Here are
some of the ideal conditions that guarantee
Aurora in all its glory. However, you must never
run out of patience to gain the luck.

complete absence of cloud cover or partly cloudy
besides solar activity
The months of September to end of Mars are
perfect. Nights have to be pitch dark and the
darkest possible. For instance, the fuller moon
will have the aurora dimmed. There must be
little light that is unnatural or light pollution
possible The best condition is the complete
absence of cloud cover or partly cloudy besides
solar activity. These two conditions can be
searched for, by having the forecast of cloud
cover, as well as aurora forecast, referenced.
5
Coldness seems to have no effect on Aurora
Contrary to the popular belief, the temperature
coldness usually has no impact at all on whether
the aurora shall show. An experience turns out to
be a better one when the weather is warmer. One
is capable of marvelling in the comfort for a
longer time.
The duration of the tour conducted

about three hours and may even take longer due to
the appearance of the Lights. You are advised to
