• A devastating reality is that family violence
  may also be an issue in a divorce. Do not think
  for one moment that you are the outlier.
• Family violence is defined by the Texas Family
  Code as an act by a member of a family or
  household against another member of the family or
  household that is intended to result in physical
  harm.

•  Bodily injury, assault, or sexual assault or
  that is a threat that reasonably places the
  member in fear of imminent physical harm, bodily
  injury, assault or sexual assault but does not
  include defensive measures to protect oneself.
• You may choose to seek a protective order which
  serves to protect the victim of future violence.
  Violation of a protective order is a crime.

•   Keeping detailed
  documentation and photographic evidence of any
  and all injuries will add credibility to your
  presentation. If you have medical records related
  to your injuries, provide them to your attorney.
  A judge will decide whether enough evidence
  exists to support protective orders.
