Title: Top Flooring Trends

1
  • Top Flooring Trends

2
  • One way to keep up with current interior design
trends is to turn to your flooring. Lush carpets
and smooth wood are now a thing of the past and
if youre still using this type of flooring, your
home may look outdated. Luckily, whatever your
style, there is a trend right now that will
breathe new life into your home.

3
Tiling
  • Tiled flooring is undergoing major changes. The
previous standard of 12 inches by 12 inches is
less common, with a larger format by far
preferred. This includes large rectangular tiles
the most popular is 12 inches by 24 inches.

4
  • If you are undergoing a kitchen remodel,
consider looking for kitchen tiles with digital
prints, like what you find on laminate
countertops or vinyl tile. Another option thats
trendy right now is a tile that mimics the
appearance of fabric, wood, or concrete.

5
Wood Flooring
  • If you have an open floor plan, connecting the
kitchen, dining room, and living room into one
expansive space, wood flooring is a top choice.
In these layouts, wood is an even better option
than tile for the kitchen, as it creates cohesion
between rooms. Like tile, wood planks are
becoming larger and sometimes are even irregular
    in shape.

6
  • A favourite is laminate flooring. This features
a thin sheet of wood on top of a base made from
another material. It prevents movement in the
floor and is less expensive than solid hardwood
flooring. Exotic wood species are particularly
    sought-after, including cherry, walnut, and
hickory. Dark stains are preferred, including
grays. It is even better if the wood is hand
scraped or textured for an aged look.

7
  • However, you dont necessarily need wood that
just looks old it is just as much a trend to
use reclaimed wood from homes or barns. This is
excellent if you want an environmentally-friendly
    option.
  • Another green choice is bamboo. After a dip in
popularity a few years ago, bamboo is back.
Products are now higher-quality and no longer
    suffer from shrinkage.

8
Vinyl
  • A final option to consider is vinyl, which has
significantly changed its image. Vinyl has become
a high-quality flooring, able to effectively
mimic wood squares or planks as well as just
about any other design, including marble for
    bathrooms.

9
  • With flexible options like laminate wood, vinyl,
and printed tile, you can find a flooring within
your budget, create the effect you want in your
home, and keep up with the trends.
