Difference Between VORT or CBTA
  • If you are aspiring for a driving license in
South Australia, then there are two ways.
  • Either you can choose a licensed instructor and
complete it using the Log Book method (CBTA) or
    lessons from a VORT educator.

4
What is Competency-based Training and Assessment
or CBTA
  • It is also known as the Log Book because it
keeps on recording the growth by doing the
assignments from the CBTsegment of the log book.
  • After completing each task, one advances to the
final task. When a person reaches Task 30 or the
Final Task, he is reserved for it through
    Transport SA.
  • The passing score for the road traffic rule is
100, and it is 80 for auto control, speed
    control, perception, and other skills.
  •
  • CBTA is for all, not for amateur drivers only.
It is an exam for drivers who are experienced.
Their learning and knowledge get acknowledged.

What is Vehicle on Road Test (VORT)
Experts say that VORT or Vehicle On Road Test
is an intensive testing process and appraisal of
your ability to drive on the road.   It looks the
skills of general driving as well as five
moderate speed driving moves. It aims at testing
the capabilities of driving competently,
confidently and safely on the busy roads.   The
test checks the capabilities and skills over a
time frame. Also, it checks the command over
several slow-speed maneuvers like a reverse
parallel park, moving off from the curb, U-turn,
3-point turn and 90 Degrees Angle Parking.   The
time required for testing depends on different
variables such that traffic or number of people
undergoing the test program. The average time
required is 30 to 45 minutes.

Continues
The passing score is 90 percent and above
adhering all traffic rules. Breaching of road
rules will result in failing the test.   The
evaluation is done by a SA Government approved
teacher who did not teach you during the driving
lessons.   Though one can go for VORT without
taking lessons. However, it is always better
joining the training session first.   It not only
increases the chance of getting through the exam
but also gives comprehensive training and
knowledge about the ins and outs of driving.
7
There is no straightforward answer for which one
is better? Both have unique merits.    Some
people find VORT a quicker path because the
driving school can arrange the test when you are
ready. In CBTA you need to clear the required
tasks in the given timeframe.   If you are
