Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

• The World Health Organization (WHO) defines
  Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) as all
  procedures that involve partial or total removal
  of the external female genitalia, or other injury
  to the female genital organs for non-medical
  reasons.
• Female genital mutilation refers to cutting of
  female genitalia and permanently mutilating the
  sexual organs of young females for non-medical
  reasons, according to the Ontario Human Rights
  Commission.
