Did the Insurance Company Make a Fair Offer?

Description:

This is a very common question, one we hear probably more often than any other question. You’ve been in a car wreck and the insurance company has offered you a settlement (often before you talk to an attorney) and you wonder if it’s a fair and reasonable offer. It may seem like a lot of money… it may seem like not nearly enough, but how can you know if it’s fair? Did the Insurance Company Make a Fair Offer?

  • This is a very common question, one we hear
probably more often than any other question.
Youve been in a car wreck and the insurance
company has offered you a settlement (often
before you talk to an attorney) and you wonder if
its a fair and reasonable offer. It may seem
like a lot of money it may seem like not nearly
enough, but how can you know if its fair? And
more importantly, how can you know if youre
    leaving money on the table?
  • More often than not, if you havent spoken to an
attorney and have them fighting for your rights,
you are NOT going to get the insurance companys
    best offer.

3
  • Why would they give you their best right away?
Out of the goodness of their hearts? Please. They
are in business to make money which means giving
YOU as little of it as they think they can get
away with. Lets unpack this a little further
  • Most insurance companies have a policy to make a
low offer until you file a lawsuit
  • The first offer is almost never the final offer,
and most insurance companies wont give you an
actually reasonable offer until you have hired an
attorney to represent you in your case and moved
    forward with legal action.

4
  • The adjuster is not paid to help you figure out
ALL of the damages you may be owed
  • The adjusters job is to give you the least
amount that they can. They arent going to take
into account any missed time from work, out of
pocket expenses, and other things that an
experienced attorney can help you be fairly
compensated for. Make sure an attorney reviews
ALL of your case details to ensure you are
    getting the maximum available.

5
  • Remember, even though that first number may at
first seem to be a lot, you want to be absolutely
sure it is enough to cover every expense you may
have. Besides, if you were injured through no
fault of your own, you deserve to be compensated
for everything medical expenses, missed time at
work, damage to your vehicle, the reduced value
of your now wrecked car, and more. An experienced
car wreck lawyer will be able to guide you
through this process and will help you make sure
you receive every penny you are entitled to.
