  • Diabetes is one of the most common serious
complex health conditions that affect over 387
millions of people around the world. It is a
disorder in the endocrine system that is
characterized by the impaired ability of the body
to respond to or produce insulin which leads to a
constant increase of sugar or glucose levels in
    the urine and bloodstream.
  • Diabetes is one of the most common serious
complex conditions that affect millions of people
around the world. It is a disorder of the
endocrine system that can affect the whole body.
Diabetes can cause critical health complications
such as lower-extremity amputations, loss of
sight or blindness, kidney failure, nerve pain,
and even heart disease. It is characterized by
the impaired ability of the body to respond to or
produce insulin which leads to a constant
increase of sugar or glucose levels in the urine
    and bloodstream.

3
  • This serious health condition has become
increasingly more widespread because of the also
increasing cases of obesity across the globe. As
of the moment, there are already around 387
million individuals both males and females of all
ages who are suffering from diabetes. The data
includes the estimated number of people who are
still unaware that they are suffering from
diabetes and who are not yet clinically diagnosed
for such condition either at the diabetes center
    or in a clinical setting.

Type 1 Diabetes
Different types of Diabetes
5
  • The type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that
needs insulin to treat. It is a health condition
wherein the beta cells are being attacked and
destroyed by the body itself. When the beta cells
or pancreatic cells are destroyed, the pancreas
cannot be able to function properly and it cannot
    also produce enough insulin.
  • People who are suffering from this type of
diabetes is known as insulin dependent. Although
the type 1 diabetes usually develops either
during childhood or early adulthood, it can
    affect people of all ages.

6
2. Type 2 Diabetes
  • The type 2 diabetes, also popularly referred to
as non-insulin dependent diabetes, is the most
common type of diabetes. In fact, the diabetes
specialist center has revealed that 90 to 95
percent of diabetes sufferers in America are
affected by type 2 diabetes. This type is
characterized by insulin resistance or the body's
inability to effectively use its own insulin.
  • People who are more than 45 years old are likely
to suffer from type 2 diabetes. Your risk for
type 2 diabetes also increases if you are
overweight or obese if you have previously
suffered from gestational diabetes, and if you
have a sedentary lifestyle or you are physically
inactive. A family history of diabetes and ethnic
background are also risk factors for this type of
    diabetes.

7
3. Monogenic Diabetes
  • Only around 1 to 3 percent of diabetes sufferers
in America are diagnosed with monogenic diabetes.
It affects individuals at any age. Monogenic
diabetes is a less common condition that results
from an error or mutation in one of the over 20
    different genes.

8
4. Gestational Diabetes
  • As its name suggests, gestational diabetes
affects pregnant women. It typically shows during
the final term of pregnancy and usually goes away
right after delivery. The diabetes center of
excellence revealed that around 3 to 8 percent of
pregnant American women suffer from this type of
    diabetes.

9
Common diabetes symptoms
  • The symptoms can vary according to the type of
    diabetes.
  • For type 1 diabetes, the most common symptoms are
    frequent urination, weight loss, tiredness,
abnormal hunger, weakness, vomiting, mood swings,
thirst, nausea, and high levels of sugar in the
    blood and urine.
  • People who are suffering from type 2 diabetes may
    experience skin infections, irritability,
