Introduction to Gamma-ray
Gamma-rays are a form of electromagnetic
radiation. They were first observed in 1900 by
French Chemist, Paul Villard. They can be used to
treat cancer, tumor, and gamma-ray bursts are
studied by astronomers and are used also in
medical types of equipment.

  • According to Mayo Clinic, In Gamma knife
    radiosurgery. Gamma-ray is used thru a
    specialized equipment that focus close to 200
    tiny beams of radiation on the target area. It
    claims that it is not harmful to the unaffected
    healthy brain cells and is focus only in the
    affected area from a linear accelerator also
    known as Linac without causing any surgical
    incision or opening to treat small tumor located
    in the brain. The Gamma Knife Surgery was first
    introduced in Australia in 2010. Installed first
    at Macquarie University Hospital and became the
    pioneer for this treatment in Australia.
